Every round shows a letter and a category — an animal starting with B, say. First to buzz in gets eight seconds to type an answer. Get it right and you take the round; get it wrong and the other player gets their shot. Rounds run back to back until the match clock runs out, and you can set that to 60, 90 or 120 seconds on the setup screen along with both player names.
On one phone, pass it between players or connect a TV so the phone becomes the buzzer. Or start Race Online with a second phone: both screens reveal the same prompt at the same instant and you race each other in real time.
Race Online connects the two phones directly, so both need Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and to be near each other. One phone hosts, the other joins. iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time — if you declined, re-enable it in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network. Only two phones can pair: once a race is joined, the app stops accepting anyone else.
Before the first round the two phones measure the delay between them so the prompt appears at the same instant on both screens. It is meant to take about a second. If it stalls, leave the race and start it again with both phones close together and off any crowded Wi-Fi network.
Answers are checked on your own phone against the round's accepted list, ignoring capitals, extra spaces and hyphens, and a plural counts for a listed singular (and the other way round). If a fair answer is still being rejected, send us the letter, the category and the word you typed and we will look at the entry.
Connect the phone to a TV or projector by AirPlay or a cable and the prompt and scoreboard move to that screen while the phone becomes the buzzer controller. The setup screen tells you when it has detected a display. Nothing else needs configuring.
Local network can be re-enabled at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security. Until then Race Online stays unavailable — the one-phone game still works normally.
There is nothing to delete. Word Duel Now saves no names, scores or settings to your device; everything disappears when you close the app.
